As the social security deficit continues to widen, the director general of the Paris Public Hospitals Agency (Assistance publique-Hôpitaux de Paris) outlines his ideas for reforming the healthcare system in a memo published Monday, May 26 by Terra Nova. He calls for a shift away from purely accounting and short-term thinking and toward tackling the problem at its root.
To save the health system, we will have to attack the mountain of spending "from its north face ." In a note published on Monday, May 26 by the think tank Terra Nova, a progressive think tank close to the Socialist Party, the director general of the Assistance publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) calls for a move away from what he calls "accounting regulation logic" : adjusting the prices of medical procedures and products, and the reimbursement rate from which social security beneficiaries benefit, to regulate the deficit.
